Goin' Green

I picked up some kale at the Super H Mart this weekend because these days, you can't go anywhere (aka read any blogs) without hearing about kale smoothies, kale chips, kale this, kale that. Because I never hop on bandwagons, I thought I would get some just to see what all the hype is about.

That night on Pinterest I saw a kale-apple-banana smoothie, which incidentally were three things that I had bought that day. So I filed it away in the depths of Pinterest to probably be forgotten. Until today!

Except when I read the recipe and it turns out it wasn't simply kale, bananas, and apples. You also needed lemon juice. And celery. And apple JUICE instead of apples. Um, misleading much? Thanks, Real Simple.

So after perusing some kale smoothie recipes, I created my own. Not that I think bananas and peanut butter are original. Just go with me here and be excited!

Brenda's Kale-Banana-Peanut Butter Dream
1 Cup chopped kale
1 banana
a few ice cubes
1/4 cup milk
a large dollop of peanut butter

Throw it all in your blender and pulverize to a green pulp.

Promptly slurp it down and then rush to you computer to blog about it.

ENJOY!

  2. How did it taste? My SIL makes a smoothie with spinach and fruit. I'm not sure of the ingredients.
