Be Bold

You know you are officially a working woman when, instead of your feet hurting after a night out of wearing heels, your feet have become so accustomed to wearing heels that they hurt when you don't.

Or maybe that just means you're crazy. I don't know.

It's no secret that I love a good pencil skirt and heels for work. It's gotten to the point when people notice when I'm wearing pants instead of a skirt. Sometimes (especially on rainy days) I miss college when I could roll out of bed and go to class in my PJ's. But really, I love dressing up every day. Who am I kidding?

It has also gotten to the point where I've said bye-bye to my bangs and have started to show my forehead for the first time in months. Oh DC humidity, how I love you.

Remember the flower necklace DIY from a few weeks ago? I know you were all just dying to see what it looks like on a human rather than draped across the windowsill or on a Coke bottle.

Sometimes I play by the rule of thumb that if you have a statement necklace, you wear minimal earrings, and vice versa. But then, sometimes I say screw that and wear a bold necklace AND bold earrings. Life is just so much more fun that way.

On a side note, when I get compliments on this necklace, is it bad to follow up with "Thanks, I MADE IT!" ? I try really hard to be modest about these things, but let's be real....when a craft project actually turns out right, I think the world needs to know.

  1. Great necklace DIY! I am totally the same way. If I made something and someone compliments it, I always say, "Thanks! I made it!" I can't help myself!

A pencil skirt and heels is my go-to work outfit as well.

  3. of course it's not bad to follow up with "thanks i made it!" i've done that before with my DIYs and it always leads to an interesting conversation- especially when people have something they made that they want to share!!!

  6. I'm a "Thanks, I MADE IT, COME BUY IT!" kind of girl, myself.

haha. not really. but as it happens, if you say "thanks, i made it" enough, people will start asking if you've made everything. which is only a problem when you have to say, "no". you start kicking yourself for not making your entire wardrobe.

i now only wear dresses i've made to family gatherings because i'd rather say yes and hear "that's awesome" than say no and hear "oh."

  7. I'm the exact opposite. I rarely wear skirts or heels. I'm usually cold so pants are better and I'm so into comfort that I usually want flats. YES! Tell 'em you made it. It's okay to be proud of it. It's very cute.

  8. so so cute necklace I love it that it's yellow, what a sunny and adorable color! Looks perfect against the white of your top. I like it that you kept your outfit clean and minimal. Very classy and chic. I like the pencil by the way
