Red Jackets and Jeggings

After Hurricane Sandy swept through, the temps around here suddenly plummeted into winter coat-wearing weather. FINALLY!

Is it weird that I was super excited for it to be cold again so that I could wear my favorite coat? I don't mean like brisk Fall day-sweatshirt-and-jeans weather, but I mean bundle up weather that involves hats, gloves....and red coats. Are you surprised? I think just about every winter coat I've owned in the past five years has been red.

Did you know that Sarah Jessica Parker made clothes at one point? This is a Bitten by SJP coat that was handed down to me from a family friend. Apparently this line was sold at Steve and Barry's, which is now bankrupt (whoops?) and has not been on shelves since 2009. The clothing line itself got terrible reviews from what I've seen, but I am here to tell you that this is my favorite coat ever. I mean, it's red. Can you really go wrong? Not to mention warm, form-fitting, and just overall fabulous. The coat originally had red buttons, but my mom helped (read: did all the work) with sewing on these black buttons I found at Joann's to give the coat some new life.

I would also like to proclaim my re-found love for jeggings. Are jeggings still cool? I sure hope so, because I'm about to wear the crap out of them again. The jeggings I'm currently wearing may or may not have been ones that didn't fit my hot post-wedding bod last year at this time, but after a year of marriage and baking are now nice and snug again.

Good thing I didn't throw them out! That's not hoarding, it's called being smart.

Spring Has Sprung....Kind Of

I don't know about you, but it seems to me like Spring has sprung.

So today I left my house with a little red coat, a bright pink flower brooch, and my sunglasses, only to be greeted with haze, humidity, and lower temperatures than I expected.

But I really liked my outfit. So I didn't change.

You might be surprised to know that absolutely nothing in this outfit was thrifted. Jeans and shoes are from Kohls, Coat is from TJ Maxx.

However, there was a little piece of this outfit from a thrifty source.

Take a wild guess.

As we were snappin' away, our landlady came out the door and was probably a little bewildered that her tenants were taking pictures on her porch.

So I asked for a photo.

And then she wanted a photo with Ian.

And then she wanted a photo of both of us.

And next thing you knew, we had a little evening photo shoot with Georgia.

Doesn't get much better than that!

(And yes...the brooch was a gift from my beautiful sister who probably found it in the depths of a PA antique store! Doesn't she have a great eye!?)

Here's to the weekend and Saint Patricks Day! I celebrated unknowingly with this green top. I'm thinking that a weekend of Guiness, Irish food, and baking something are in order.

Some Wedding Inspiration....a la Audrey.

After updating a friend at work today on the wedding plan progress, I realized that July is now almost 4 MONTHS away!!!!

I'm not gonna lie--it's been a rough past few weeks. (See previous post: Meep.) But yesterday I finished my last exam before break, the sun is shining, and I get to spend tonight and tomorrow evening with my man. Sounds good to me.

I spent a good portion of the afternoon catching up on all my wedding blog stalking that I haven't had enough time to do lately, and I realized that I really need to go through all the ideas, inspirations, and photos that I've been collecting and decide on how exactly we will create our fabulous decor! I was reading one of my favorite blogs (http://www.weddingbee.com) and saw this photo of one of my favorite style icons, Audrey Hepburn:

Now I've only seen a few movies that she stars in, so I won't pretend like I am a die-hard "Ooooooh, I've seen Breakfast at Tiffany's once, I LOVE Audrey Hepburn!!!!!" fan. But you can't deny that the girl's got absolutely fantastic style. And after looking through some photos, I've decided that I wouldn't mind raiding her closet....

The balloons...

Love this coat!

And of course....the red dress.....

It's going to be a busy four months accomplishing all the DIY projects...place cards, centre pieces, table numbers, favors-good thing I've got nine beautiful bridesmaids. ;-)

But until then, I've got my sites on SAN ANTONIO, where I will be spending spring break for an externship with Starwood Hotels. Can't say I'm not looking forward to some warm weather for a change.
